Public Art Coming To The Design District Is Valued At Up To $10M

PublicArtThe Design District is getting between $5 and $10 million of public art over the next two years, according to Dacra’s Craig Robins (via The Art Newspaper).

Some of the recently revealed work there includes a re-creation of Buckminster Fuller’s ‘Fly’s Eye Dome’, a sculpture of Le Corbusier, and two murals by John Baldessari.

Other areas of Miami are also seeing new works of public art. Jorge Perez unveiled two sculptures by the Argentinian artist Julio Le Parc at One Brickell during Art Basel, with a combined value of nearly $1 million. Also, Bruce Berkowitz is planning works by James Turrel and Richard Serra at his new Biscayne Boulevard headqarters.
